J.J. Keller offers several new training programs

April 2, 2013

J.J. Keller & Associates is offering three new online interactive training programs as well as a driver training program on CSA.

These recent online training programs include Hazmat Endorsement Practice Test, Cargo Securement: Dry Vans and Hours of Service Canada.

These self-paced training courses are available anytime and anywhere there is an Internet connection.

The Hazmat Endorsement Practice Test helps drivers prepare for the Hazmat Endorsement CDL test. It includes questions that closely mimic the actual test and explanations for incorrect responses. It features randomized questions that eliminate memorization and enhance learning.

Cargo Securement Dry Van features up-to-date training for dry van cargo securement based on the regulations and industry best practices. The course covers the key concepts and regulations for the loading and securing of all types of cargo in dry vans. This course is also available on CD-ROM.

HOS Canada features up-to-date training that helps drivers operating in Canada comply with Canadian Hours of Service requirements. It covers key concepts and practices including the hows and whys of Canada’s HOS regulations, along with topics including daily maximums, off-duty requirements, and weekly cycles. The course also features practical exercises that outline the rules and procedures and animated logging examples and worksheets that take drivers through the completion process.

The company is also offering a new CSA training program that reflects recent changes to the FMCSA’s safety program.

CSA: Know the BASICs — the new driver training program features real-life scenarios and a state-of-the-art curriculum to help drivers understand:

  • The four components of CSA
  • The seven BASICs in the SMS—including those that have changed
  • The FMCSA interventions and their consequences
  • How their performance affects them and their company
  • Ways to prevent “high value” violations.

“Maintaining good scores under CSA’s revised Safety Measurement System (SMS) methodology requires drivers to understand the CSA program as it exists today,” said Tom Bray, senior editor of transportation content for J. J. Keller. “And our new training program is the most comprehensive, up-to-date program available for teaching drivers how to do just that.”

Components of the training program include a closed-captioned DVD video, discussion guide, trainer tools CD-ROM with ready-to-use materials (including a PowerPoint presentation), CSA special report, CSA overview poster, and 11 driver handbooks (additional handbooks available separately).

The program is available for $365 by calling 800-327-6868 and referencing Promo Code 101191, or by visiting jjkeller.com/101191.

In addition to the DVD format, CSA: Know the BASICs is also available as a Pay Per View video and will soon be available in two self-paced formats—interactive online training (for use anywhere with an Internet connection) and interactive CD-ROM training (no Internet connection needed). Each format features the same content, enabling trainers to provide consistent information company-wide while appealing to a variety of adult learning styles.
