Quarterhill and WSDOT launch truck parking system to improve I-5 freight corridor safety
Quarterhill, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), recently deployed a new truck parking information management system along Interstate 5. The $2.3 million initiative aims to improve visibility into available parking, reducing fatigue-related risks and supporting safer, more efficient freight movement.
"This project is a prime example of how public agencies and private partners can work together to improve highway safety," Matt Neeley, state traffic systems development engineer for WSDOT, said. "Reliable access to truck parking information not only supports safer freight movement but also strengthens the resilience of Washington's transportation network for all road users."
Quarterhill CEO Chuck Myers said the system helps truck drivers plan ahead and find safe places to rest, improving roadway safety and keeping freight moving efficiently. The system provides real-time parking updates through dynamic signage, mobile platforms, and the Parker Truck app, with future expansions planned statewide. Learn more…
