Road Ready, Penske announce trailer telematics program

Aug. 4, 2020
With Road Ready’s suite of wireless sensors, OE trailer system and fleet software integrations, the company aims to provide comprehensive, scalable and inclusive fleet telematics solutions.

Road Ready from Clarience Technologies is participating in a program with Penske Truck Leasing and Penske Logistics to evaluate the Road Ready trailer telematics system.

Launched in 2017, Road Ready by Truck-Lite offers fleets an overview of a trailer's environment, both inside and out, using a variety of customizable wireless sensors. According to the company, long-life batteries allow Road Ready hardware to gather reports on untethered trailers, and the user interface displays trailer location and condition in real time on any device with an internet connection.

"The Penske name is synonymous with transportation, and Road Ready gives them the ability to better analyze their fleet operations to lower costs and improve profitability," said Rob Richard, general manager of Road Ready from Clarience Technologies. "Road Ready is proud to provide Penske with the tough, reliable telematics components and state-of-the-art data capabilities that their operations demand."

Since March 2018, Road Ready has provided Master Control Units and cargo sensors to both Penske Truck Leasing and Penske Logistics. Most recently, Penske Truck Leasing agreed to pilot Road Ready's exclusive SmartBridge Integrator onto select trailers to integrate their tire pressure and wheel-end temperature systems into the Road Ready system.

"Penske and Road Ready are both technology leaders in the industry," said Paul Rosa, senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning for Penske Truck Leasing. "Penske is confident in the products being evaluated and looks forward to utilizing the data we now have available."
