Vehicle maintenance application now available on MCP50

July 23, 2013

The vehicle maintenance application from Omnitracs is now available on that company’s Mobile Computing Platform (MCP) 50. Vehicle maintenance captures engine and vehicle diagnostic information and sends it to drivers and fleet managers so that service can be proactively scheduled to reduce repair costs.

Vehicle maintenance is also available on the MCP110 and MCP200. It monitors the most common engine fault codes and periodically reports vehicle diagnostic information and when alerts are generated. Fleets may configure the reporting intervals to align with their business needs, Omnitracs said.

Back office personnel receive notifications via an intuitive web interface or emails while drivers are notified of engine faults on the in-cab display. According to Omnitracs, this insight allows drivers and managers to easily view and correct problems that arise while enabling fleets to direct vehicles to the best inspection and service locations for preventative repairs to minimize on-road and out-of-network failures.

“Both proactive fleet maintenance and reducing the time and money spent on roadside assistance remain a major opportunity for transportation companies,” said Vikas Jain, vice president of product management and software as a service at Omnitracs. “Fleets using our cost-effective MCP50 can now make more proactive, intelligent maintenance decisions to maximize the time their trucks are on the road generating revenues and minimize their maintenance time and costs.”

Vehicle maintenance provides the option to view both current and historical information about each vehicle or the entire fleet, making it easier to plan and schedule regular maintenance. Managers are able to quickly spot critical issues on one consolidated page, as well as sort and filter information for workflow efficiency. Vehicle view provides a more detailed diagnostic, location and profile snapshot, along with graphical representations of generated data, to improve analysis and resolution of reported fault conditions.

Omnitracs’ MCP50 is a mobile fleet management solution that helps transportation companies increase productivity and manage safety and regulatory compliance.
