LAS VEGAS. Owners of Hino Class 4 through 7 medium-duty trucks can now connect their engine diagnostics to their onboard computer through PeopleNet’s PerformX engine monitoring system, PeopleNet announced here at the annual conference of the American Trucking Assns.

PeopleNet said the system is compatible with model year 2008-2010 Hino trucks and allows the onboard computer to collect engine data, creating various reports that include speed, shifting, idle management and more.

The information is sent to PeopleNet’s MPG dashboard, its Professional Services ROI program and other applications that support driver compliance, safety and operational efficiency,

“The importance of telematics to fleet managers can’t be over emphasized,” said Steve Chiodi, Hino Trucks senior manager of field service. “It is a distinct competitive advantage for optimizing operational efficiency, and we are pleased PeopleNet can offer our customers to install this capability.”
