A new agreement between Swedish truck maker Scania and Luxembourg-based component manufacturer SAF-Holland will expand the service network available to trailer owners.
But, more importantly, according to Scania, the agreement provides for additional services such as logistics, warranty handling, workshop procedures, special tools, help desk and training of workshop technicians.
“I’m confident that this agreement with SAF-Holland will enable us to give an even better service to our customers, said Anders Gustafsson, senior vp-service operations, at Scania. “Uptime and peace of mind are the keystones for our customers. Our strategy is to focus on our customers productivity and what adds value for them; this agreement is another step in that direction.”
The deal will provide access to Scania’s worldwide network of 1,500 service centers and 14,000 technicians who will be authorized to perform the necessary repairs to any SAF-Holland component. Scania repair centers, or “workshops,” provide fixed price repair service. The service sets prices based on historical time and costs to perform similar repairs.
“I’m happy that two premium brands could join forces in the service field in order to provide our customers with the best service,” said Klaus Jurgen Stegman, vp, trailer system business unit sales and marketing at SAF-Holland. “This agreement will definitely add additional values to the existing broad service network.”
The deal will also allow Scania dealers to sell SAF-Holland trailer parts.
“We are very pleased with this new, strategically important cooperation,” said Dr. Reiner Buetel, CEO of SAF-Holland Group. “The Scania service centers are the ideal addition to our global service network. We are making good progress in the expansion of our global service centers and can offer our customers a prompt, reliable and comprehensive service.”
