Incentives offered on all-electric terminal tractor

May 16, 2014

The Orange EV T-Series terminal tractor is eligible for between $45,000 and $75,000 in financial incentives through the Drive Clean Chicago program, maker Orange EV announced.

The Orange EV T-Series is a fully electric terminal tractor. Starting with an existing truck, Orange EV removes all the elements of the diesel powertrain (e.g. motor, transmission, supporting systems), installs all electric power train and control systems, and reconditions remaining components.

“Orange EV applauds Chicago’s leadership in developing a meaningful incentive program which promotes significant emission reductions in a commercial urban environment,” said Wayne Mathisen, Orange EV CEO.

Chicago is the largest inland general cargo port in America. Drive Clean Chicago provides incentives to enable Chicago fleet owners to implement clean vehicle solutions.

The incentives are funded by resources from the federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program.
