Amsted Seals, a provider of wheel-end and sealing solutions, has launched its Pro-Lock axle fastener for commercial vehicles. The Pro-Lock axle fastener’s patent-pending design is made to limit wheel-bearing adjustment variability, extending the life of the tire and the wheel seal, according to an Amsted press release.
“The Pro-Lock’s ease of use makes installation errors virtually impossible,” said Amsted Seals’ Director of Sales Bill Hayen. “Not only does that help extend wheel-end component life, but it increases safety on the road.”

Installation can be completed without any tools due to chamfers on both the nut and keeper ring, according to Amsted. The keeper is designed to eject if not properly snapped into the groove in order to reduce the possibility of incorrect installation. White stripes are painted on the nut to allow technicians to more easily judge how far they have backed off the nut during installation. Pro-Lock increases the precision of bearing adjustment down to .001 inches, which increases the life of the seal and the bearings, according to the release.
