Owners of Peterbilt trucks equipped with Allison automatic transmissions may now order Allison’s LBSS (load-based shift scheduling) system
    Oct. 8, 2009

Owners of Peterbilt trucks equipped with Allison automatic transmissions may now order Allison’s LBSS (load-based shift scheduling) system.

Allison LBSS automatically selects between economy and performance shift schedules for the automatic transmission based on the vehicle’s actual payload and the grade on which it is operating.

Peterbilt noted the system will switch to the economy shift schedule to maximize fuel economy when the vehicle is being driven on level terrain and the vehicle is empty or the load diminishes. For heavier loads or greater grades, it will switch to the performance shift schedule to optimize fuel economy while maintaining productivity.

Available onPeterbilt aerodynamic, traditional, medium-duty and vocational model trucks, LBSS is compatible with Allison’s 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 Series HS (highway series) or RDS (rugged duty series) transmissions when mated to Paccar PX-6, PX-8 or Cummins ISL, ISM or ISX engines.
