Delco Remy has released the 36SI alternator, which the company said provides charging solutions for applications such as over-the-road trucks with sleeper loads, refuse trucks with electrical braking systems, and delivery and lift gate applications.

According to the company, the alternator features a brushless design with fewer moving parts, three different mount configurations and Remote Sense, which boosts output to compensate for voltage drops at the battery.

The alternator also includes airflow vents, enhanced field coil design and a larger negative heat sink bridge, the company added.

“[The 36I] has an output of up to 170 amps at road speeds and over 100 amps at engine idle, state-of-the-art features like remote sense, an efficient fuel-saving design and the ability to operate in today’s high under-hood engine temperatures,” said Tim Barnes, Delco Remy aftermarket product manager.
