As part of its celebration of 100 years of operations in the United States, Robert Bosch Corp. Automotive Group, part of Stuttgart, Germany-based Bosch Group, gave the media an extensive tour of its Research Technical Center in Farmington Hills, MI, and rolled out several new products for passenger-car and light-truck applications, as well as a diagnostics services program.
For cars and light trucks, Bosch announced:
-
New line of EV6 advanced gasoline fuel injectors for current and older domestic and import vehicles. Bosch said these second-generation injectors have been in widespread OE use since 1992 and will cover millions of current U.S. vehicles and can be installed as well in millions of older vehicles first equipped with older-technology injectors.
-
Expanded line of premium replacement OE modules and fuel pumps. This all-makes, all-models program includes OE electric turbine pumps for both current and older vehicles equipped with either turbine or positive-displacement type pumps. The program includes full coverage of in-tank electric modules, fuel pumps and fuel pump filter screens. Bosch noted that replacing an older-technology pump “can bring greater operational efficiency, lower current draw and longer service life as well as smoother performance.”
-
Platinum IR Fusion premium spark plugs. Bosch said the new plugs combine an iridium (hence IR) and platinum center electrode with its exclusive surface air gap technology and yttrium-enhanced ground electrodes to “deliver better than OE performance.” The company noted that the reduced gap wear of the Platinum IR Fusion lowers the voltage requirements on the ignition system to yield better, more consistent performance and longer service life.
Also profiled was the new Bosch Diagnostics program, which developed from its acquisition of Vetronix, a leading auto diagnostics service-tool provider. According to the company, Bosh Diagnostics will offer independent automotive repair providers a “total systems solution” by providing OE-quality parts, test equipment, diagnostic software, service training and a technical support helpline.
