Having introduced the X Multi Energy D dual drive tire last spring, Michelin Americas Truck Tires has added a fuel efficient dual for line haul applications, the X Line Energy D. Like the regional dual and its X One wide base tire, the X Line is verified as a fuel efficient tire by the EPA SmartWay program.
The new tire also features Michelin’s dual energy compound tread to maximize wear resistance while maintaining low rolling resistance for fuel economy. The company’s proprietary Matrix 3D siping for improved traction and even wear has also been incorporated for the first time in a line haul energy tire. The siping is full depth for maximum traction throughout the life of the tread, which is 23/32nds deep.
The X Line Energy D will be available in September in 11R22.5 and 275/80R22.5 sizes. In the first quarter of 2013, Michelin said it will add 11R24.5 and 275/80R24.5 sizes.
Michelin has also announced an agreement with TravelCenters of America to provide service and sales for the Michelin X One wide base tire through its TA and Petro Stopping Centers truck stops. With over 200 location and 450 service trucks, TA now gives the company more than 2,000 points of service for its wide base tire product.
