Firestone grows truck tire line

March 22, 2013

LOUISVILLE, KY. Kicking off a renewed marketing effort at the Mid-America Trucking Show for its Firestone truck tire brand, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions has introduced four completely new tires -- three for on-highway applications and one for on/off-highway.

The new on-highway tires are EPA SmartWay and CARB certified and combine longer tread life with the promised fuel economy advantages, according to Chris Ripani, director of marketing, strategic brands and channels.

The FS591 is a steer radial featuring Firestone rib and side groove designs for smooth, even wear and lower rolling resistance, according to the company. The FD691 drive radial also features a similar continuous shoulder design and a high-rigidity tread pattern to provide the same advantages in the drive position. And the FT491 brings those design features to an all-position radial.

Also an all-position radial, the FS820 has a five-rib design to combat, stone retention in on/off-highway applications, as well as an all-steel casing construction and compounding to resist cuts and improve durability, according to Firestone. It’s offered in three sizes: 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 315/80R22.5.

All four new Firestone truck tires will be available in April.
