Bergstrom’s Rockford, IL, facility has achieved certification to ISO 14001:2004 through its Environmental Management System (EMS).
ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard of the International Standard Organization (ISO) that defines the requirements for establishing, implementing and operating an EMS, Bergstrom said.
The certification provides a framework for a continuous cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing, and improving the processes and actions that are performed to meet business and environmental goals. According to the company, while it does not state specific requirements for environmental performance it provides assurance that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
“Bergstrom has a commitment to environmental stewardship and accountability,” said Jim Elliott, vice president and general manager of Bergstrom. “Customers are increasingly seeking out environmentally-responsible products, services, and business partners. Our new ISO 14001 certification reassures Bergstrom customers that we take a proactive approach to environmental compliance and protection, operating facilities that meet some of the highest environmental standards in our industry.”
Bergstrom designs and supplies climate systems to the commercial vehicle industry.
