Meritor beefs up warranty coverage on driveline, suspensions

March 5, 2014

Meritor has increased the warranty coverage on two of its product lines. On the RideSentry MPA38 and MPA40 suspensions, coverage will now include damage to the slider box caused by sudden, accidental impact with a curb or similar fixed object. Also, all Permalube RPL drivelines will now be covered for 5 years/500,000 mi., up from 4 years/400,000 mi., for model year 2015 linehaul vehicles.

“Meritor’s Permalube RPL driveline was the first available permanently lubricated driveline for linehaul vocations and is now the first to offer this type of warranty coverage,” said Chad Mitts, general manager, North America, Brakes and Drivelines for Meritor. “The Permalube RPL driveline has great performance, durability and warranty coverage and will offer extended life with minimal downtime and maintenance to customers.”

The Permalube RPL driveline offers a bearing package with large-diameter trunions and precision-tolerance needle bearings for optimum bearing alignment and maximized performance. The RPL is permanently lubricated with Meritor’s specially formulated wear and temperature-resistant grease. Two-piece U-joint thrust washers prevent bearing end wear and absorb loads for minimized wear and extended lifecycle. The driveline is retained with four patch lock bolts for simplified installation and ease of service.

The RideSentry curbing damage eligibility provision considers deformation such as bending, buckling or breakage of the trailer suspension slider box that is caused by accidental impact with a fixed object and is limited to the originally equipped trailer, Meritor said. The warranty provision does not cover damage to other components or damage resulting from a collision with another vehicle, rollover or fire or if the trailer is considered to be total loss, scrapped or otherwise not salvageable.

“Meritor is the only company that offers curbing warranty coverage on trailer suspensions,” said Martha Remski, director, Trailer Product for Meritor. “The RideSentry suspension is an extremely durable product and this improved warranty coverage is an example of our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.”

RideSentry is a trailer suspension system offering a parallelogram design concept, a compact, integrated system that eliminates dock walk and provides a smooth, stable ride and better handling for longer trailer life. The unique design also includes the PinLoc slider system that eliminates the potential for unsecured sliders under a trailer.
