Comcar adds 350 Mack Pinnacle models

Jan. 13, 2015

Comcar Industries, an Auburndale, FL-based carrier with 53 terminals, has added 350 new Mack Pinnacle models to its fleet.  The trucks were delivered in September and are already on the road in Florida, Georgia and South Dakota.

Mack models comprise about 75% of the Comcar fleet, Mack said.

“We’ve been working with Mack for more than 30 years,” said Mark Bostick, president of Comcar. “We chose the Mack Pinnacle trucks because of their fuel efficiency and the dealer support we receive.”

Comcar is utilizing both Mack Pinnacle axle back day cab and sleeper models. The day cabs are equipped with Mack MP7 engines and the sleepers with Mack MP8 engines. Both models were built with the Mack mDrive automated manual transmission for a fully integrated powertrain, engineered for optimum performance and lower maintenance.

The sleeper models feature the Super Econodyne powertrain package that maximizes fuel economy, delivering up to a 3.5% improvement in efficiency over similarly spec’d models, according to Mack.

“We appreciate the investment that Comcar has made in Mack,” said Stephen Roy, president of Mack Trucks North American Sales and Marketing. “We know the Mack Pinnacle equipped with the mDrive offers outstanding fuel efficiency benefits, which is why we recently made the mDrive standard on our Pinnacle models. The mDrive has a proven record of increasing productivity, safety and efficiency for our customers, and we look forward to delivering these benefits to Comcar as well.”

The trucks were also equipped with the Mack GuardDog Connect telematics platform that enables real-time diagnosis of issues and proactive scheduling of repairs to keep Comcar trucks on the road and on the job.
