Online used equipment marketplace IronPlanet has launched Fleet Services to allow easier bulk purchasing in conjunction with its TruckPlanet marketplace.

The services allow buyers to purchase multiple trucks in a single or batch transaction easily and affordably, according to IronPlanet. With access to over $200 million in Class 8 and other trucks, Fleet Services and IronPlanet Truck Locator especially target the needs of multi-unit and fleet buyers in the trucking space.

::While all of IronPlanet's 1.5 million registered users worldwide can participate, IronPlanet notes that Truck Locator is tailor-made for buyers who:

Want to buy in bulk,

Are not looking to buy one at a time during on-site or online auctions, and

Want to work with a dedicated sales team "that knows the details and is close to the deal."

Meanwhile, right on the heels of Veterans Day this year, IronPlanet's GovPlanet marketplace is holding its latest "All-Humvee" online auction of U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps Humvee vehicles on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Along with the event, civilians will have a chance to purchase U.S. Marine Corps M1123 Humvee specialty units that've been demilitarized and outfitted for sports and outdoor enthusiasts.

To celebrate Veterans Day, IronPlanet has again partnered with Fisher House Foundation for the All-Humvee sale. A portion of the proceeds from the online auction will be donated to Fisher House Foundation, a charity that supports a network of comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.

Drilling into auctions: points of interest

IronPlanet also shared some results from its month-long "September to remember" auction events. The company sold 9,890 items — ranging from tractor-trailers and construction equipment to light trucks, Humvees and classic cars — for more than $99 million in gross merchandise volume across online and on-site auctions.

::With nearly 6,000 bidders participating globally, IronPlanet also noted some points of interest:

The highest ticket item, a 1999 Liebherr LR1400 Lattice-Boom crawler crane located in Mississippi, sold for $875,000.

The most viewed items were excavators, while the item that got the most bids was a Dodge Ram pickup.

The top five bid categories were oilfield equipment (10,231 bids), Humvees (9,060 bids), attachments (6,281 bids), excavators (6,070 bids) and tools (5,940 bids).

The September sales included participation from 84 countries, and 34% of the auction items received international bids. More than 1,500 items, or about 15% of the total, were purchased by international buyers.
