The 2025 FleetOwner 500: Private list ranks the most prominent private carriers in the U.S. by total registered power units. Released in April, the FO500 experienced numerous ranking shifts following a busy 2024 marked by carrier acquisitions, mergers, consolidations, and expansions.
In addition to ranking the largest private fleet operations overall, FleetOwner breaks down these companies into categories based on equipment, cargo types, and industry segments. This media gallery focuses on the fleets with the most straight trucks. The private fleets with the most over-the-road tractors will be part of a future top 10 list.

Compared to 2024, this top 10 list features the same fleets with a few changes in the rankings: WM overtook AT&T for the No. 1 spot this year. Verizon moved up two spots from No. 9 to No. 7. The rest of the list is identical to last year, though many fleets did grow and move up in the rankings of the overall 500 list.
