Key takeaways

  • Fleets should track the NHTSA recalls to prevent crashes, fires, and operational hazards across commercial vehicles.
  • Critical issues include instrument panel failures, airbags, batteries, rear cameras, and drive power systems.
  • Prompt owner action and a dealer or NHTSA contact can ensure safety compliance and minimize fleet downtime.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford, Rivian, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Ford models’ instrument panel display failure

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025-2026 F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, and 2025 F-150 vehicles. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) may fail at startup. An instrument panel display that does not show critical information, such as warning lights or vehicle speed, increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 355,656 vehicles. The instrument panel cluster software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update. Owner notification letters were mailed September 2. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S88.

Ford Ranger models’ airbag may tear

Ford is recalling certain 2024-2026 Ranger vehicles. The side curtain airbags may contact the B-Pillar inner reinforcements and tear during deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation." Airbags that deploy improperly during a crash increase the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 100,900 vehicles. Dealers will install protective shields. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed September 8. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated December 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C41.

International MV models’ battery cable may short circuit

International Motors is recalling certain 2026 MV vehicles. The battery interconnect cable may contact the auxiliary stud and hold-down bracket, causing a short circuit. A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

This recall potentially affects 1,175 vehicles. Dealers will install three wind laces on the battery hold-down and add a J-bolt between each battery to ensure 3 mm of terminal clearance. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 13. Owners may contact International customer service at 800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25513.

Ram ProMaster models’ rearview camera image may not display

Chrysler is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ram ProMaster and 2019-2020 Dodge Journey vehicles. Cracks in the microprocessor may cause the vehicle's rearview camera image not to display properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility." A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 219,577 vehicles. Dealers will replace the rearview camera. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed beginning September 30. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 59C.

Rivian models’ improperly tightened ground connection may cause loss of drive power

Rivian Automotive is recalling certain 2025 R1S and R1T vehicles. An improperly grounded connection inside the high-voltage distribution box (HVDB) may cause a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 23 vehicles. Rivian will inspect and repair the HVDB ground strap joint or replace the high voltage battery pack as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 3. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1723.
