The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ram, Altec, and more.
Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.
Altec AT models’ emergency stop may not function
Altec Industries is recalling certain 2019-2024 AT Series vehicles. The lower emergency stop may not function when the upper control is selected. An emergency stop that does not shut off the unit during an emergency increases the risk of injury.
This recall potentially affects 37 vehicles. Altec will correct the wiring between the power distribution module and the machine harness. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 16. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3265.
Altec LR8 models’ improperly formed shear plate lockbolts
Altec Industries is recalling certain 2025 LR8 Series vehicles. The collar on the lockbolts for the shear plates may have been improperly formed during assembly, resulting in bolt failure. Shear plate lockbolt failure can result in separation of the elevator sub-base and truck frame, increasing the risk of injury.
This recall potentially affects 14 vehicles. Altec will inspect the lockbolts and replace them as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 23. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3266.
Chevrolet Silverado models’ missing owner’s manual
General Motors is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 vehicles. These vehicles may not have received an owner's manual during production. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, “Child Restraint Anchorage Systems.” Without an owner's manual to consult, owners may not know how to safely use and operate the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
This recall potentially affects 3,408 vehicles. Dealers will provide the owner’s manual. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 12. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252532020.
Ford models’ engine oil leak may cause fire
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2026 Explorer, Mustang, Lincoln Corsair, and 2025 Maverick vehicles. The cylinder head may have been improperly manufactured, which can cause the ball plugs to fail, resulting in an oil leak. An oil leak in the presence of an ignition source, such as a hot engine or exhaust components, increases the risk of a fire. In addition, the loss of oil can result in engine seizure and loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects six vehicles. Dealers will replace the cylinder head assembly free of charge. All affected vehicles are still within dealership inventory, so no owner notification letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SD3.
International models’ ECU malfunction may impair safety systems
International Motors is recalling certain 2016-2023 Lonestar; 2018 8600; 2018-2023 LT; 2021-2026 MV; 2022-2023 RH; 2023-2026 HX; and 2025-2026 HV vehicles. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working. Safety systems that depend on the ECU, such as automatic traction control, ABS, electronic stability control, active cruise control, and collison mitigation system, may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 678 vehicles. International will work with Bendix to reprogram the ECU. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 19. Owners may contact International's customer service at 800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25525.

Chrysler is recalling certain 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, 2019 Ram 3500, and 2019-2020 Ram 2500 vehicles. The right and left side curtain airbag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect. An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.
This recall potentially affects 1,879 vehicles. Dealers will replace one or both side curtain airbags, as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 18. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 800-853-1403. FCA's numbers for this recall are C2C, C7C, and C8C.
Ram models’ instrument panel display failure
Chrysler is recalling certain 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Ram Cab Chassis, and Ram 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument panel cluster display to be blank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems"; 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems"; and 102, "Transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect." An instrument panel display that does not show critical information, such as warning lights or gear selection, increases the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 72,509 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel software or replace the instrument panel cluster, as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 8. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's numbers for this recall are B4C and B8C.

This recall potentially affects 34,824 vehicles. Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update. In addition, Rivian will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver's seat belt pretensioner assembly. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 19.
