Recall Roundup: NHTSA recalls impact commercial vehicles from Ford, GM, Toyota, Altec, and Terex
Key takeaways
- Multiple recalls across OEMs highlight risks in fuel systems, airbags, lighting, and structural components that fleets must monitor closely.
- Recalls can lead to downtime and safety hazards, making timely inspections, repairs, and OEM communication critical for fleet operations.
- Accurate load labeling, functioning safety systems, and proper maintenance are essential to meet compliance standards and reduce crash risk.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford, Toyota, and more.
Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.
Altec models’ chassis lighting harness not installed
Altec Industries is recalling certain 2025 AC Series Crane and DT Series Digger Derrick vehicles. The harness intended to prevent Altec-installed lighting from overloading the chassis lighting circuit was not installed, which may result in a loss of power to the body lighting or trailer lights. Loss of body lighting or trailer lights increases the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 134 vehicles. Altec will notify owners to inspect their vehicle for the harness. If the harness is missing, a repair kit will be provided. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 15. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3295.
Ford models’ high-pressure fuel pump may fail
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020-2022 F-Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550; 2021-2022 F600; and 2022 F750 vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 24V957. Biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, which could lead to failure of the high-pressure fuel pump. High-pressure fuel pump failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 7,105 vehicles. Dealers will update the powertrain control module (PCM) software. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed March 30. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S17.
General Motors models’ roof rail airbag inflator endcap may detach
General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, as well as 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, Silverado 3500, GMC Sierra 2500, and Sierra 3500 Crew Cab vehicles. The left or right-side roof rail airbag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture. A detached end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape and project the end cap or fragments of the inflator into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
This recall potentially affects 2,819 vehicles. Dealers will replace the left and right-side RRAB modules. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 4. Owners may contact GM customer service at 888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262549710.
Terex South Dakota models’ cracked weld may cause pole guide arm to fall
Terex South Dakota is recalling certain 2019-2026 General 65, General 80, General 95, C4000, C5000, and C6000 digger utility trucks equipped with pole guides. An insufficient weld on the plate weldment may crack, causing the retaining pin to separate. Without a retaining pin, the pole guide arm may fall, increasing the risk of injury to people around the truck.
This recall potentially affects 2,303 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the plate weldment as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 31. Owners may contact Terex's customer service at 605-882-4000. Terex's number for this recall is SN737.
Toyota models’ incorrect load-carrying capacity on label
Toyota is recalling certain 2024-2025 Toyota Tundra, Tacoma Hybrid, Tacoma, RAV4 Hybrid, Land Cruiser Hybrid, Lexus GX550; 2024-2026 Tundra Hybrid; 2025 Sequoia Hybrid, Crown Signia, Grand Highlander, Lexus TX500 Hybrid, Lexus NX350 Hybrid; 2025-2026 Grand Highlander Hybrid and Lexus TX350 vehicles. The load-carrying capacity modification label may display inaccurate added-weight values. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." A vehicle with an incorrect maximum capacity weight value may be overloaded, which can increase the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 8,230 vehicles. Dealers will replace the load-carrying capacity modification label. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 9. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26LB04, 26LA04, 26TB07, and 26TA07.
