Key takeaways

  • NHTSA recalls impact multiple OEMs, including Ford, Mack, Isuzu, Autocar, and Volvo in key safety areas.
  • Common issues include wipers, wiring harnesses, airbags, and turn signals affecting visibility and crash risk.
  • Fleets should track recall notices closely to avoid downtime, compliance issues, and increased safety exposure.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Autocar and Mack.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Autocar Xpeditor models’ winter front cover may interfere with forward collision warning system

Autocar is recalling certain 2025-2026 ACX (Xpeditor) vehicles. The winter front cover may interfere with the forward collision warning (FCW) system. Interference may cause the FCW system to fail, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 189 vehicles. Autocar will replace the cover. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 29. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-2602.

The windshield wiper arms may break, causing the wipers to fail. Windshield wiper failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 422,613 vehicles. If necessary, dealers will inspect and replace the wiper arms. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were expected to be mailed April 13. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S24.

Ford models’ front passenger airbag may not deploy

Ford is recalling certain 2025-2026 Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." Failure to correctly detect a passenger may result in the airbag not deploying as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

This recall potentially affects 3,170 vehicles. Dealers will replace the passenger seat occupant classification sensor. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 10. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in November 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C19.
