Travel cross country in comfort with an Odyssey battery

Dec. 6, 2022
Operating a heavy-duty vehicle, you have enough things to think about without worrying about your battery. Learn more from the experts at Odyssey.

Today’s heavy-duty trucks are more advanced than ever before, with more technology enhancements added in the last decade than in the past 50 years. While technology has improved the operating experience, it has also increased the need for more power and energy storage than ever before. A plethora of safety, comfort, vehicle connectivity, and infotainment features have increased the drain on the battery, requiring additional stored energy. Fortunately, the advanced battery engineering built into ODYSSEY batteries from EnerSys delivers everything needed and more. It’s a deep cycle battery with long-lasting resilience and double to triple the 5-second cranking power of equally sized conventional flooded lead acid batteries.

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) ODYSSEY batteries are manufactured with proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, which offers several advantages for longer-haul, heavy-duty truck applications.

Reserve power to spare

When a sleeper cab is in use and no-idle laws are in effect, ODYSSEY batteries offer best-in-class cycling and starting performance, with the power to support all the comforts of a sleeper cab and easily start the engine the next day. With the 220 minutes of reserve capacity and 100 amp-hour nominal capacity of the ODX-AGM31 ODYSSEY® Extreme battery model, you can be assured of more than 3 hours of reserve capacity per battery after shutting down the engine.

Temperature resistance

Depending upon the season, a heavy-duty truck that’s traveling cross-country can come across weather conditions ranging temperatures between 0°F (-17.78°C) – 100°F (37.78°C). Extreme heat or cold can have a negative impact on overall battery performance. ODYSSEY® batteries offer extreme temperature tolerance, from temperatures as low as -40°F (-40°C) to as high as 176°F (80°C). The amazing 1150 CCA rating of the ODX-AGM31 ODYSSEY® Extreme battery means there is no need to worry about starting your heavy-duty truck in cold weather.

Built for the roughest roads

ODYSSEY batteries rugged TPPL construction provides best-in-class shock and vibration resistance, and as a sealed battery, there is never a risk of spills or leakage. The batteries can be mounted in virtually any position except inverted. They are classified as “non-spillable” by the US Department of Transportation—meaning no acid can spill even if cracked or broken.

Faster recharge

ODYSSEY batteries have a high recharge efficiency among other sealed lead acid batteries on the market, capable of 100% recharge in 4–6 hours.

Made to last

Operating a heavy-duty vehicle, you have enough things to think about without worrying about your battery. ODYSSEY batteries offer a longer service life—typically three times that of conventional batteries—saving you money on replacement costs. They also feature up to 400 cycles at 80% Depth of Discharge (DOD), delivering higher stable voltage for longer periods of time. You can also eliminate thinking about battery maintenance. ODYSSEY® batteries are virtually maintenance-free and never need watering.

Enjoy the comfort of quality

Long haul or shorter assignment, comfort in your heavy-duty truck comes in many forms, whether it’s provided by the amenities and accessories your heavy-duty truck is equipped with or confidence in knowing your long-lasting ODYSSEY® battery will see you through your cross-country trek.
