The national average price at the pump for a gallon of diesel fuel reached $1.46, a jump of 2.2 cents over the previous week, according to the Dept. of Energy. The department's Energy Information Administration said the price has not reached $1.46 since December 4, 2000.

While the price continues to fall on the West Coast and in California, regions like the Lower Atlantic and Gulf Coast, which have been hit by torrential storms the past two weeks, saw respective spikes of 3.6 and 2.7 cents.

The Midwest saw a 2.4-cent hike while the Rocky Mountain region saw a 1.3-cent jump and the East Coast saw an increase of 1.2 cents.
