UPS Logistics appoints CIO

UPS Logistics Group, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based United Parcel Service Inc., has named David Currence to be its chief information officer. Currence will oversee the information technology portion of UPS Logistics Group’s business, ensuring the company’s global supply-chain solutions feature industry-leading technology, the company said. UPS Logistics Group, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based United Parcel Service Inc., has named David Currence to be its chief information officer.

Currence will oversee the information technology portion of UPS Logistics Group’s business, ensuring the company’s global supply-chain solutions feature industry-leading technology, the company said. Currence’s staff includes software developers and programmers, IT engineers and experts in systems integration and supply chain management technology.

He comes to UPS Logistics Group from Brightpoint Inc., a distributor of wireless devices, where he served as CIO for three years. Prior to that, Currance spent five years as CIO for Wesco Distribution Inc. and worked for 15 years at Westinghouse.
