Propane-Friendly Fleets Honored

The propane industry announced the winners of its fourth annual Propane Exceptional Energy Fleet Awards. The awards were presented in recognition of fleets that demonstrate the business benefits of propane-powered engines. The winners are: The City of San Antonio operates four propane refueling stations through the city to operate its fleet of 363 propane-powered light- and medium-duty trucks running.

The propane industry announced the winners of its fourth annual Propane Exceptional Energy Fleet Awards. The awards were presented in recognition of fleets that demonstrate the business benefits of propane-powered engines.

The winners are:

  • The City of San Antonio operates four propane refueling stations through the city to operate its fleet of 363 propane-powered light- and medium-duty trucks running. By the end of 2004 it will add another 100 light-duty propane vehicles.

  • Chicago-based El Milagro runs 24 of its 32 delivery trucks on propane and operates its own propane refueling station.

  • ME-based Island Explorer, which operates in Acadia National Park, powers all 17 of its Bluebird TranShuttle buses on propane.

  • San Antonio-based VIA Metropolitan Transit runs 98% of its transit bus fleet on propane and uses 2.5-million gallons of propane annually.

  • The Jacksonville Electric Authority powers 28 light-duty vehicles and five forklifts in its off-road equipment fleet.
