LOUISVILLE, Ky. East Manufacturing is so excited about its latest dump trailer, it is displaying it at the Mid-America Trucking Show here even though it has yet to be named.

The prototype, the latest in the Genesis line of trailers, combines the advantages of a square-box dump trailer with the advantages of a half-round trailer. The concept brings together the lighter tare weight of a half-round while maintaining the handling and stable dumping characteristics of a square box, East said.

The benefits of this “hybrid” design, East engineers said, include a total weight in the 9,500 to 10,000 lbs. range, depending on options; two-plus additional yards of capacity than a traditional half-round trailer; a center of gravity 7 in. lower than a traditional half-round which increases cornering and stability; and a stronger, more rigid body to improve stability and resistance to body twisting.

Following Mid-America, the trailer will be road-tested and a name chosen. East expects to begin taking orders by mid-summer.
