Earnings rise at U.S. Xpress

U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc. said today that its operating revenues and earnings for the first quarter were higher compared to the first quarter of 2002. U.S. Xpress said its income was $121,000, compared to a loss of $1.4 million last year in the first quarter. The carrier's operating revenues increased 11.9% to $220.7 million. U.S. Xpress said its income was $121,000, compared to a loss of $1.4 million last year in the first quarter.

The carrier's operating revenues increased 11.9% to $220.7 million.

Chattanooga, TN-based U.S. Xpress had an 8.8% increase in truckload operating income to $3 million.
