TCA honors fleets and drivers

The Truckload Carriers Assn. (TCA) honored both drivers and fleets at its annual convention this week in Las Vegas. MacKinnon Transport of Guelph, Ontario and Marten Transport of Mondovi, WI, won TCA's National Fleet Safety Awards. MacKinnon won the award for truckload companies operating less than 25 million miles annually, while Marten won for the category of more than 25 million miles annually.

MacKinnon Transport of Guelph, Ontario and Marten Transport of Mondovi, WI, won TCA's National Fleet Safety Awards. MacKinnon won the award for truckload companies operating less than 25 million miles annually, while Marten won for the category of more than 25 million miles annually.

Don Burianek of Crete Carrier Corp. was named Company Equipment Driver of the Year. He has been with Lincoln-based Crete for 19 years and is a two-time finalist for the award.

Scotty McCurry, an independent contractor affiliated with Umthun Trucking Co. has been named Independent Contractor of the Year. He has been with Eagle Grove, IA-based Umthun since 1969 and has driven 3.5 million accident- and injury-free miles. He has been a finalist for the award seven times.
