Today federal and state officials gathered at Volvo Group’s Hagerstown, MD, plant to honor the start of the construction of an engine development laboratory. The building will be added to the facility as part of the “multi-year transformation project.”

“The investment in Hagerstown represents a major commitment from Volvo Group to the North American truck market,” said Lars-Göran Moberg, president & CEO of Volvo Powertrain Corp.

The new laboratory will house advanced testing areas and equipment, and will have the latest communications and Internet-based technology to link with Volvo’s international R&D facilities.
