SAE Salutes Michelin Tire

Michelin Americas Research & Development Corp. (MARC) has been awarded the 2003 Society of Automotive Engineers’ Excellence in Transportation Award in the Mobile Energy Emissions category.

The award recognizes the company’s X One wide single truck tire for the its energy savings and emissions reductions capabilities.

The Michelin X One replaces two conventional dual tires with a single tire and has proven to save 4- to 10% in fuel cost and decrease overall weight by 800 to 1,300 lbs., the tire company said.

“From an environmental standpoint, X One truck tires save countless gallons of fuel each year,” said Terry Gettys, MARK COO & president.
