Col. Shawn Driscoll, chief of the Montana Highway Patrol, has resigned to become senior investigator for Swift Transportation Co. at the firm's Phoenix headquarters. Driscoll has been with the MHP since 1984 but in the top spot for only 15 months. Driscoll, 43, is known as a strong supporter of seat belt and drunk-driving laws.
