Dana completes $6 million research and development expansion

Dana Corp. has completed a $6 million expansion to its heavy vehicle R&D center in Kalamazoo, MI. The center serves as both the headquarters and R&D nexus of Dana’s North American Commercial Vehicle Systems group.

The expansion adds 15,000 sq.-ft. of research, development, and testing space to the existing 155,000 sq.-ft. facility. The company said a “significant” investment has been made into new test equipment, including the installation of a MTS axle dynamometer. A 1,000 sq.-ft. floor bedplate was built to broaden structural testing capabilities.

“This investment demonstrates Dana’s ongoing commitment to the commercial vehicle industry and the medium- and heavy-truck business,” said Nick Cole, president of Dana’s Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Group. “The expansion of the center affords Dana additional research and development capabilities for its off-highway and commercial vehicle products.”
