Averitt Express announced it has been awarded a freight transportation contract from BMW of North America to provide on-site logistics management and transportation services at BMW's parts distribution center in Senatobia, MS.

The center distributes parts for 114 automotive dealerships throughout the southern U.S. It is one of three parts distribution centers the German-based automaker operates in the United States. BMW operates two other distribution facilities in Ontario, CA and Mt. Olive, NJ.

Averitt will provide a customized and integrated transportation system for BMW, blending on-site logistics management with regional LTL and expedited service. Averitt's on-site logistics team will provide comprehensive logistics management for the facility's parts distribution process, including route optimization, shipment execution, and shipment tracking.

"Our vision as a company is to become a total transportation solutions provider for all of our customers," said Dan Singer, vp for Averitt's logistics services. "In this case, we felt like the solution for BMW was a completely integrated transportation and logistics approach."

Singer added that the integrated transportation approach Averitt is employing for BMW is an example of its strategy to customize its services based on specific needs of customers.

"Shippers are looking for transportation and logistics providers who can manage and provide a wide variety of services and do so with flexibility and customization," said Singer. "Providers who can be successful on both of these fronts will have a significant advantage in building deeper customer relationships in the future."
