Cummins Westport Inc. said today that it has received an order for 70 low emissions natural-gas bus engines for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MANTA).
The 70 C Gas Plus 8.3-liter engines, rated at 280 horsepower, will be used in 40-foot low floor transit buses manufactured by Orion Bus Industries Inc., a DaimlerChrysler subsidiary. The buses are scheduled for delivery to MANTA later this year.
"This order for Atlanta, along with the general trend of strong sales for the C Gas Plus for transit buses and refuse haulers, continues to confirm our belief that this clean, technologically advanced engine is being very well received by fleet operators," said Cummins Westport president Guff Muench.
