TRALA names driver of the year

Orville Pat Rule of Dodgeville, WI, a driver for ICON Transportation Co. for 15 years, has received top honors in the 18th annual “Driver of the Year” program of the Truck Renting & Leasing Assn. (TRALA).

Rule was honored for his over 1.5-million miles of accident-free driving. He has actually logged 4,435,312 miles without a single preventable accident. Since 1957, Rule has hauled livestock, milk, tobacco, auto parts, and compact discs and videos.

Award sponsor Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company presented Rule with the top award and a cash prize. Al Cohn, Goodyear’s manager of strategic initiatives, made the presentation. “Rule represents the best of trucking,” said Cohn. “His safety record showcases his ability to watch out for fellow drivers on America’s highways and his dedication to do whatever it takes to serve ICON customers.”

The TRALA program recognizes men and women who achieve the highest level of excellence in professional truck driving and demonstrate the vehicle renting and leasing industry’s continuing commitment to highway safety, noted the association.
