Trincon Group has announced a two-part series of web-based seminars that will address driver hiring and retention. Trincon's Driver Hiring & Retention Webinar will take place January 18 and 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. EST.

Trucking industry experts Duff H. Swain and William Kistner will host the seminars. They will offer insight and step-by-step solutions about how trucking companies can implement successful hiring and retention procedures.

Part one will cover strategies, processes, and defining a career path for drivers. Also it will address the basics of writing effective employment advertisements, conducting thorough interviews and creating a successful orientation program. Part two will focus on creating an entry-level "new driver" support program, how to conduct driver reviews, driver recognition criteria as well as compensation and incentives.

"When we look at a company's turnover rate and the problems they encounter hiring and retaining qualified drivers, we see an almost universal pattern," says Swain, president & CEO of Trincon. "Too many trucking companies are making the same types of mistakes and they are losing productivity as a result. This seminar will provide some of the basic tools that many organizations need to begin addressing this industry-wide problem."

Swain has more than 30 years of transportation industry experience. In addition to his business-advisory work, he has published several white papers on the subjects of trucking productivity, cost analysis accounting and driver issues.

Kistner, vp of Trincon, has served as a professional consultant and educator for more than 24 years. With Trincon, he develops marketing strategies and training programs, as well as management development for transportation companies. Kistner is also Trincon's on-site manager of the Driver Hiring & Retention consultation program.

The cost to take part in both sessions is $249, or $159 to take part in one session only. Additional participants for each company may join in for an additional $125. Members of the Truckload Carriers Assn. receive a 20% discount.
