The National Truck Equipment Assn. (NTEA) has named Allen Birmingham, national sales manager for Tommy Gate Co., its 46th president. The announcement was made at the organization’s Work Truck Show in St. Louis.

Birmingham replaces Andrew L. Outcalt, president of Meyer Products and Swenson Spreader. He began his career as Midwest territory sales manager for Tommy Gate Co. in 1991 before being elevated to national sales manager of domestic and international sales.

“We have all been impacted by these challenging economic times,” said Birmingham. “Our industry is known to be resilient and I am dedicated to implementing new member opportunities and enhancing existing programs that will assist my fellow NTEA members in this recovery.”

NTEA also appointed three new members to its Board of Trustees. Each will serve three-year terms.

Jim LoPres, president & CEO of Auto Safety House, and Jeffrey Messer, president of Messer Truck Equipment, join as distributor trustees. Dave Zelis, director of sales and marketing for Buyers Products Co., joins as a manufacturer trustee.
