Heckmann Corp. has ordered 200 Peterbilt Model 367 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks, Peterbilt has announced. Heckman is transitioning its tractor-trailer fleet from diesel to natural gas vehicles, according to Peterbilt.

“Peterbilt’s clean powered alternative fuel platforms provide customers an innovative and economic solution that delivers high quality performance and fuel efficiency to support their business objectives,” said Bill Jackson, Peterbilt general manager & Paccar vice president. “As the leading manufacturer of alternative fuel system vehicles, Peterbilt’s LNG products provide the horsepower, torque, and efficiency to get the job done.”

The Model 367 LNG truck is powered by a 15L Westport GX engine with up to 475 hp. and 1,750 lbs.-ft. of torque. The engine uses high pressure direct injection, proprietary fuel injectors, (HPDI) fuel system, specialized cryogenic fuel tanks, and associated electronic components.

The system produces 25% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than a diesel-powered truck.
Heckman is a water solutions company servicing the oil and shale gas exploration and production marketplace.

“We are dedicated to engaging in innovative solutions that lower our carbon footprint, and these natural gas vehicles provide that in addition to significant cost savings and optimal performance,” said Richard J. Heckmann, chairman & CEO of Heckmann. “We are proud to be the first oil and natural gas services provider to offer LNG trucks to our clients and to operate the largest fleet of LNG trucks in North America. We encourage other companies to participate in these affordable, environmentally friendly opportunities as well.”
