Mike McGrath, formerly vice president of sales for the SKF Vehicle Service Market, North America, is now its president. In his new capacity, McGrath will focus on managing sales activities and on continuing to build on SKF’s research and development initiatives. He reports to Rutger Barrdahl, president of the global SKF Vehicle Service Market.

The company also recently announced the opening of an SKF “college” in Elgin, IL. The training center is the fifth that has been established over the past several years and is intended to provide professional development as well as technical training for employees and customers.

SKF also launched a technical e-newsletter as another element in its Heavy-Duty Pit Crew program, a training program developed to provide participating heavy-duty technicians with technical information through newsletters, self-study guides and technical manuals. Members of the program are also entered to win a chance to become an Honorary Pit Crew member for the Number 31, 29 or 07 Richard Childress Racing Nascar Nextel Cup Team. More information is available from SKF in their Heavy-Duty Pit Crew brochure (#457687).

A new on-line Heavy-Duty VIN Decoder, developed to make it easier to locate replacement belt tensioner parts by enabling searches by VIN number or by an OEM’s part number was also recently introduced by SKF along with the debut of 31 other new products in the company’s air dryer line, including both new and remanufactured dryers, cartridges and service kits.
