The California Dump Truck Owners Assn. has announced it will now be known as the California Construction Trucking Assn. (CCTA) to better reflect the association’s expanding membership in the construction industry.

“Over the past few years it has become clear that our name did not fully describe our diverse membership, which includes a wide variety of construction truck owners and operators in addition to dump trucks,” Lee Brown, CCTA executive director, said in a press release. “In the last five years we have reached out to lowbed/heavy-haulers and concrete pumpers, and will formally expand our marketing reach to include construction-related flatbeds, water trucks, pneumatics, concrete pumps, mixers and even street sweepers.”

CCTA represents truckers on issues at the state capitol in Sacramento, as well as with state agencies such as the California Air Resources Board, the California DMV and the California Highway Patrol.

“We need a name that cuts to the chase and leaves an accurate and lasting impression with our ever-changing politicians,” Brooks Ellison, CCTA’s lobbyist and legal counsel said. “We found ourselves having to spend valuable time describing what the association actually does and represents, rather than get straight to the point — telling the politicians how to fix the state and improve our industry.”
