A truck driver died in a fiery accident on Interstate 95 near Lorton, VA, that closed all the northbound lanes of the Interstate for several hours Monday morning.

The accident occurred at 2:15 a.m. when a truck hauling produce hit a “cushion” truck set up by the Virginia DOT to protect road workers. The fuel tank on the produce truck ruptured and the truck burst into flames on impact with the construction truck, according to Woodbridge Patch.

A work zone worker had to jump to safety over a Jersey Wall to avoid the collision.

The Virginia State Police have yet to positively identify the trucker who was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas, VA.
