Epes Transport System acquires NC business

Jan. 2, 2013

Epes Transport System has acquired Cargo Logistics, an asset-based trucking company. Terms were not disclosed. With the purchase, Epes, a North Carolina-based truckload carrier, adds 25 power units and 40 drivers to its operation.

Cargo Logistics, founded in 1998, is based in Charlotte, NC. It specializes in air freight, expedited and truckload transportation.

According to Britt Colley, president of Epes Transport System, the purchase of Cargo Logistics will complement Epes’ truckload, dedicated and container business.

“We are very excited about the opportunities we now have in Charlotte and our entry into the airfreight and expedited markets,” said Colley. “This move allows us to offer more overall service to our customers.  Cargo has a very strong customer base and we look forward to providing them with excellent transportation service.”
