• NPTC conference breaks records

    April 13, 2014

Cincinnati. The National Private Truck Council’s (NPTC) 2014 Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition officially convened this morning in Cincinnati. Gary Petty, NPTC president and CEO, opened the meeting on an upbeat note by listing a number of new records for this year’s conference including: largest meeting in 25 years (about 1,100 attendees),  largest number of exhibitors (170), largest Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) graduating class (83), and largest number of private fleet professionals serving as speakers (more than 85).

Petty also noted that private fleets comprise the largest sector of the trucking industry, representing just over 50% of the Class 8 trucks on the road.

Still, Petty acknowledged that America’s private fleets can’t ever take the existence of the fleet for granted, noting that there are three key components required for private fleet success:

    • A culture of support starting at the top of the organization
    • A business model that works at the appropriate levels to support the entire organization
    • Superior tactical execution

These goals shape the meeting’s agenda from today’s start to its finish on April 15.
