INDIANAPOLIS. NTEA recently released the 2016 Fleet Purchasing Outlook, which monitors and evaluates vocational fleet acquisition activity. According to NTEA, companies can use this study as they seek to navigate market fluctuations and understand shifts in fleet buying patterns.

“We are pleased to offer the 2016 Fleet Purchasing Outlook to our partners in the work truck industry,” said NTEA Executive Director Steve Carey. “This resource explores current motivations of commercial fleet managers and highlights overall purchasing behavior — both historic and anticipated.”

The Outlook — based on survey responses from a pool of fleet professionals in mid- to high-level management with decision-making authority — examines the latest results and benchmarks against data from NTEA’s 2013–2015 reports. Noteworthy callouts include:

  • Average truck age is rising for nearly 40% of respondents
  • More than half of participating fleets continue to exceed their normal replacement cycle
  • 95% of respondents report likely-to-sure funding for planned 2016 acquisitions

Review the report to gain a fleet management perspective on:

  • Average truck age and replacement cycles
  • Macro-level buying tendencies
  • Anticipated changes in 2016 fleet size
  • Critical factors driving purchasing behavior
  • Interest levels for advanced truck technologies and alternative fuels
  • Importance of financial purchasing incentives

NTEA members can access the 2016 Fleet Purchasing Outlook for free in print or a downloadable PDF. Nonmembers can purchase the report for $199. To get your copy, visit ntea.com/shopntea or call 800-441-6832.
