In one week, families across America will be opening presents and eating cookies in pajamas with holiday music playing in the background. People of the trucking industry have been working tirelessly to make sure that happens. Here are five good things that happened in trucking this week.

Daseke supports multiple charities during the holiday season

This week, Daseke’s operating companies are collectively supporting communities across the country through donations to several charities, such as Wreaths Across America and others.

J. Grady Randolph, Central Oregon Truck Company, E.W. Wylie, Boyd Brothers and Smokey Point Distributing all joined the 2020 Wreaths Across America movement – picking up wreaths at different stops and transporting them to various locations.

Washington-based Smokey Point Distributing completed its eighth annual Toys for Tots donation campaign. Drivers and office staff gathered 111 toys to help provide for families during this unprecedented year.

Boyd Brothers partnered with both the Children's Hospital of Alabama for their annual toy drive and local nursing homes to collect much-needed items for residents. They started gathering items and organizing fundraisers in October to benefit the facilities.

Schneider National donates holiday gifts to Rawhide Youth Services

On Dec. 16, Schneider National donated Christmas gifts for children to Rawhide Youth Services.

In a tweet the same day, Rawhide thanked Schneider for their “generosity and support each year to make our youths’ spirits bright during the #holidayseason.”

ATA Workforce Heroes unloaded wreaths at Arlington Cemetery

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) delivered wreaths donated to Wreaths Across America to Arlington Cemetery with the help of Move Interstate, a moving, relocation and logistics company that has recently been inducted to the ATA.

In a tweet on Dec. 16, ATA said that “there are thousands of empty cardboard boxes leftover after wraths are laid at the headstones of our nation’s fallen for @WreathsAcross, and for years Interstate has collected those boxes to be recycled – a critical piece of support in the mission to honor America's heroes.”

UPS driver decks out the truck for the holidays

A UPS truck was spotted on Dec. 15 in Beaver, Utah by resident Jolene Deutschlander dressed up for the town’s Holiday Parade.

On Dec. 16, XPO Logistics employee Ronnie Berry dressed up as Santa Claus to lead Jonesboro, Ark. employees and donate presents to children in their community.
