During a recent meeting, 30 Michelin Retread Technologies Inc (MRTI) dealers got a first-hand look at technology being used in the 93,000-square-foot Pre-Mold tread-pressing plant in Covington GA, which supplies MRTI franchisees.

MRTI currently has 39 franchises across the United States and Canada. As a result of growth, Michelin invested more than $15 million in the Covington facility, which began production of Pre-Mold treads during fourth-quarter 1999.

Besides a plant tour, Michelin representatives delivered presentations and answered dealers' questions regarding new product development, improvements to the MRTI process, the history of the Covington facility, and the future of MRTI and the retread industry.
