Heat Fleet knocks freeze worries out cold
The company's Heat Fleet is equipped with US Department of Transportation/hazardous materials-approved, oversize heaters. With between 30,000 and 60,000 Btus on every trailer in the Heat Fleet, Jevic customers can move temperature-sensitive freight in trailers that keep shipments warm for the length of the trip.
This heated trailer service allows supply chain managers to maintain control of order-cycle times without tying up production, limiting order processing, or increasing on-hand stock. The result is transit time reliability, consistent order cycles, product integrity, and a reduction in the level of safety stock customers have to keep on hand.
"Most carriers are either unwilling or unable to effectively maintain the flow of 'freezable' commodities during cold weather, especially over weekends," said Paul Karvois, the company's president and chief executive officer. "Jevic's specialized equipment gives our customers a decided edge when it comes to moving this freight."
