Sysco Corp, the Houston TX-based foodservice distributor, saw its net earnings climb 17.9% to $243 million in its fiscal fourth quarter ended June 28, 2003, versus $206 million in the fourth quarter a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share rose 19.3% to $0.37 compared with $0.31 in the same period a year ago.

This marks SyscoÕs 109th consecutive quarter of sales and earnings growth, according to a Houston Chronicle newspaper article.

For its fiscal year, Sysco recorded net earnings of $778 million, a 14.5% surge from $680 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share increased 16.8% to $1.18 versus $1.01 the year before.
