Fleets buying trucks now have a new resource for getting those rigs outfitted with ComfortPro auxiliary power units (APU) from Carrier Transicold, a business unit of United Technologies Corp.

Through an agreement between Fontaine Modification and Carrier, Fontaine becomes the largest single installer of ComfortPro units for new trucks. Customers will continue to purchase ComfortPro APUs exclusively through Carrier Transicold authorized dealers and can have them installed by Fontaine with little or no impact in their delivery process.

The arrangement allows trucks built at the OEM plant to be diverted to an adjacent intermediate manufacturing facility for ComfortPro APU installation by Fontaine. Upon completion, the chassis is reinserted into the OEM freight system for delivery to the next or final destination with little or no additional freight or logistics costs.

As part of the agreement, Carrier provides training, certification, and support to Fontaine's installation technicians. Fontaine Modification provides warranty activation for customers as well as pre-delivery inspection. Carrier's ComfortPro APU dealers will source units and parts to Fontaine's major facilities in Dublin VA, Dallas TX, Springfield OH, and Charlotte NC, where installations are performed.
